The minerals in Dead Sea salt make it healthier than typical table salt. Its high sodium content is due to the high bromide content of the sea water. It is toxic, and the high bromide content once made the salt inedible. However, modern technology has helped mitigate its toxicity. The briny water is collected, and it transforms over eight months into crystals. Once separated, the crystals are milled and washed to remove the bromide.
